Trespassers Beware–Sherriff’s Department Has Dock Jurisdiction

Beaufort County Sherriff’s Department Granted Jurisdiction Over the Seabrook Point Property Owners Boat Dock Property and Facilities

With council from the Beaufort County Sherriff’s Department, and in an effort to halt illegal use of the SPPOA boat dock facilities, the Board of Directors has installed a No Trespassing sign at the entrance to the boat dock lot and facilities. It has installed a second No Trespassing sign at the loading ramp. Also with council from the Sherriff’s Department, a notice has been posted at the entrance to the boat dock property notifying all parties that on the authority of S.C. Code 23-1-15 the Beaufort County Sherriff’s Department now has enforcement jurisdiction over the boat dock property and facilities.

As of October 23, 2011, unauthorized persons who intrude into the SPPOA boat dock facilities will be subject to arrest and prosecution.

SPPOA members whose vehicles do not display a current SPPOA parking decal are well advised to procure and display decals immediately. SPPOA property owners can obtain official SPPOA decals for vehicles they own by contacting Mr. Alan Daigle, 843846-6025 (email

The Beaufort County Sherriff’s Department will be called to deal with owners of vehicles that do not display a current SPPOA decal. If you suspect that an intruder is using the facilities, contact a Board member immediately using one of the phone numbers below.

If as a SPPOA member you have a guest whose vehicle is parked at the boat landing, place a clearly visible note over the driver’s side dashboard that identifies you as the property owner (include your name and address). Otherwise, it will be assumed that a vehicle is in violation.

Why this action? The reason is simple; the major monetary investment of  SPPOA members must be protected against people who choose to invade the
community’s privacy and property.
